Sources and method

The taxonomic backbone and the sources behind the data. Each species page lists its own sources and last-verified date.

  1. Mangrove Species Reference seed list (owner-supplied CSV, 53 species).

Licence: Owner-supplied working data; licence to be confirmed (decision D8).

Source of the seed records in this scaffold. To be superseded by per-field sources during M0.

  2. Plants of the World Online, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

    https://powo.science.kew.org/

Licence: Per-dataset; confirm before bulk reuse. Used to look up identifiers and link out.

Proposed primary taxonomic backbone (decision D4). Data is not warranted by Kew for quality or accuracy.

  3. World Flora Online.

    https://about.worldfloraonline.org/

Licence: Taxonomic backbone data is CC0 (Creative Commons Zero).

Cross-check against the primary backbone (decision D4).

  4. The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

    https://www.iucnredlist.org/

Licence: Red List terms of use apply; most images need written permission.

Store only the category code, assessment year and a link until the Red List terms are confirmed (9.6).

  5. Polidoro, B. A. et al. (2010). The Loss of Species: Mangrove Extinction Risk and Geographic Areas of Global Concern. PLoS ONE 5(4): e10095.

    https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0010095

    Licence: Open access (PLoS ONE).

IUCN global mangrove assessment; 70 species benchmark used for scope reconciliation (Appendix B).

  6. Australian Plant Census (APC), Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research.

    https://www.anbg.gov.au/chah/apc/

    Licence: Consult the provider's terms.

Regional treatment used where it differs from the primary backbone (for example Excoecaria ovalis).
